Ongoing Projects

Demonstration for the European Day of Protest for the Equality of People with Disabilities

Together with persons with disabilites and the Wohnstätten Zwyssig in Zurich, inclusion360 organized the first demonstration for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Switzerland on December 3, 2021. Until then, people with intellectual disabilities had hardly had a political platform in Switzerland. That’s why the demonstration was launched. It has since taken place four times, with key demands including voting and election rights for all people with disabilities. The next demonstration will take place, the European Day of Protest for the Equality of People with Disabilities, at Helvetiaplatz in Zurich. Will you be there?

Project launch: December 3, 2021, next demonstration: May 2026, Helvetiaplatz, Zurich

GC Unified

inclusion360 supported the development and implementation of the new football initiative GC Zürich Unified. The project aims to enable people with intellectual disabilities to play football within the existing structures of GC Zürich. The vision: people with disabilities should no longer be limited to participating in sports through separate or specialized organizations, but be fully included in the regular structures of mainstream sports associations. GC has launched Zurich’s first team that does not operate within segregated systems. Since September 2024, GC Unified has been active and on the field.

Project launch: Since September 2024

Kevin Rauch for the City Council

inclusion360 supports and accompanies Kevin Rauch in his candidacy for the Zurich City Council in 2026. He’s listed as number 7 on the SP’s candidate list for district 9. Initially, Kevin formed a political tandem with Lea Sandoz-Mey. Today, he is politically active independently and serves on the board of SP District 9. inclusion360 firmly believes that Switzerland needs greater representation of people with disabilities. Kevin Rauch would be the first politician with an intellectual disability to serve on the City Council. His motto is: Nothing about us – with us in the City Council. Together for a city without barriers!

Completed Projects

Submission of the inclusion initiative

inclusion360 supported the Verein für eine inklusive Schweiz in the submission of the inclusion initiative, which aims to achieve both actual and legal equality for persons with disabilities. The event took place on September 5, 2024, at the Federal Square in Bern. It began with a demonstration attended by around 1,300 persons with disabilities and allies, featuring moving speeches. Afterwards, 107,000 signatures in support of the inclusion initiative were submitted to the Federal Chancellery in Bern. inclusion360 ensured that the submission was planned and carried out in a participatory manner by persons with disabilities. Additionally, it was ensured that the event was accessible to all participants.

Inclusion Exchange

The Inclusion Exchange project by inclusion360 aimed to create a platform where people with and without disabilities could learn with and from each other on equal footing. The goal was for all participants to leave the events with a better understanding of the concept of inclusion and the ability to integrate it into their everyday lives. The idea stemmed from the realization that many people have little or no contact with persons with disabilities. The project particularly aimed to reach the younger generation, so they could benefit from these encounters in their future careers and implement measures to make their work environments more inclusive. In this context, inclusion360 organized numerous events for people both with and without disabilities.

History

In 2018, Lea founded the non-profit organization inclusion360 in Zurich. inclusion360 is established as an Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD). As the sister of a brother with intellectual disabilities, Lea experienced early on how people with disabilities are often excluded. Instead of genuine inclusion, her brother repeatedly faced exclusion. In response to this reality, Lea founded inclusion360 shortly after her 18th birthday. One of the organization’s first projects was the Inclusion Exchange, which aimed to create a platform where people with and without disabilities could learn from and with one another on an equal footing. After attending these events, participants were expected to better understand the mindset of inclusion and integrate it into their everyday lives.

In order to achieve real and legal equality for people with disabilities, other levers had to be activated — particularly in the political sphere. In Switzerland, people with disabilities have very little political representation. That’s why, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a public demonstration in Zurich was initiated together with people with lived experiences and Wohnstätten Zwyssig. Since 2021, this event has taken place in Zurich every year. In 2024, inclusion360 also and supported the demonstration and submission of the inclusion initiative on the Federal Square.

Another key focus of inclusion360 is breaking down segregating structures. The aim is to empower companies, clubs, and organizations to integrate their offerings into regular, existing systems. For instance, sports for people with disabilities should no longer be limited to specialized organizations, but instead be part of mainstream sports associations. A successful example of this approach is the new football team GC Unified, which inclusion360 supported throughout the process. Through this project, people with intellectual disabilities are now able to play sports in the same environment as everyone else.

This is only the beginning of our story. We have much more ahead of us…

Founder

Lea Sandoz-Mey is the founder and president of inclusion360. Her vision is an inclusive society in which people with disabilities can participate fully and independently. She is committed to building a future where everyone can unlock their full potential.

Lea served as campaign manager for Islam Alijaj’s groundbreaking run for the Swiss National Council — designed to be the most inclusive national campaign in Swiss history. The campaign was a resounding success: On October 22, 2023, Islam Alijaj became the first politician with disabilities from the Social Democratic Party to be elected to the National Council. The campaign won multiple awards, including a Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Lea worked as a project manager at voll-behindert in Zurich. There, she helped lead the “Gewöhn dich dran” awareness campaign by Pro Infirmis, advised organizations on inclusive service strategies, supported national studies on inclusion, and co-developed an accessible signature-gathering process for political initiatives.

Since 2023, Lea has served on the board of the Local Organizing Committee for the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2029 in Switzerland. Her goal: to help make the Games a milestone for inclusion in the country. Lea has been recognized as a Global Changemaker 2018 and a Global Teen Leader 2020.

In summer 2024, Lea completed her Bachelor's degree in Political Science at the University of Zurich. Her thesis on accessibility and political participation of people with disabilities in Swiss political parties received top honors as the best thesis of her year.

In September 2024, she began the European Master’s in Human Rights and Democratisation at the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice. As part of the program, she is spending a semester at the University of Malta, specializing in Disability Studies. Her goal is to deepen her expertise in global disability rights and expand her understanding of international human rights frameworks.
